Rangers transfer news: Ben Williamson set to join Partick Thistle on loan
Ben Williamson is set to leave Rangers and join Partick Thistle on loan once he returns from pre-season camp in Germany, according to The Sun (11 July).
Williamson spent last season on loan at Dundee as he helped them win the Championship title, and now looks set for another season in the division with the recently relegated side.
The 21-year-old is currently with the first-team squad in Germany as part of the pre-season training camp, but is expected to join up with the Partick Thistle squad once he returns.

Solid
Williamson was never really going to get a chance in the first-team this season when you consider the importance of Michael Beale’s results and the amount of investment being put in.
So with that said, another loan move makes a lot of sense and putting him back in a league where he did so well last year will only see his development continue and his performances improve.
Rangers have got greater priorities right now and especially in midfield there are so many options ahead of him that this is the only outcome that really makes sense for everyone involved.

He’s unlikely to be the only one leaving on loan too with some talk that Alex Lowry is also potentially on the move, but it’s important that there is a pathway for these young players to develop before returning to Ibrox and looking to break into the side.
For now though, let them play elsewhere while we chase our goals of trophies and toppling Celtic and lets create a winning environment for these players to come into rather than one with even more pressure for results.
