Michael Beale handed huge Dujon Sterling relief as Rangers injury news drops

Rangers are confident new signing Dujon Sterling will not face a lengthy spell on the sidelines despite not travelling with the squad to their pre-season preparations in Germany, according to the Daily Record [page 42].

There had been plenty of speculation surrounding the severity of his injury, with the new man not travelling and causing some concern, although it was reported to be a minor calf injury which is not expected to keep him out for too long.

This news is said to be a “huge relief” to Michael Beale, easing concerns about the club’s new recruit, as Rangers prepare to kick the SPFL season off in just under three weeks’ time, and the boss will want a fit and ready squad to take on Kilmarnock.

Rangers will hope this isn’t a recurring situation

With Sterling having arrived at the club just over a month ago, Rangers will be hoping that this injury will not be a recurring trend with their new man and that following his recovery from this injury he can push forward and never look back.

When a new player picks up an injury before he’s even begun his spell at the club it can always be a concern for all involved. Thankfully this one isn’t serious, although his omission from the travelling squad suggests recovery may take at least a couple of weeks.

Gers fans will also be pleased to know that Sterling has only missed nine games in his, albeit short, career with a groin injury he picked up with Stoke last season.

Sterling himself will also be making sure he recovers as well as possible so that he can crack on with training and get involved properly in the new club, new surroundings and new opportunity this move has presented to him.

In other Rangers news, the door may have shut on the club’s transfer target as new quotes emerge.
