Rangers transfer news as fire sale on cards at Ibrox with Borna Barisic named
Journalist David McCarthy has named four players Rangers could let go this summer if the club get acceptable bids for their services, all of whom have played starring roles at the club, via the Daily Record [page 45].
McCarthy listed Ianis Hagi, Glen Kamara, Ben Davies and Borna Barisic as possible Ibrox exits this summer as the club looks to balance out their squad, stating that if the club get acceptable bids for them, “they’ll be off.”
In the case of Barisic, it is suggested that if the Croatian full-back doesn’t extend his current deal with the club, he could be up for sale as the club would rather make money from his sale than let him leave for free upon the expiry of his contract.

Three of the four players named played a big part in the 2020/21 title-winning season under Steven Gerrard, with Barisic making 33 league appearances, Hagi making 32, and Kamara also making 33 as Rangers lifted the SPFL title for the first time in ten years.
There will need to be big-name departures
Rangers have been very active in the transfer market this summer, with six names already through the door and others on their way, and this will have a knock-on effect on the rest of the squad with their positions in the side no longer guaranteed.
Kamara in particular has been linked to a move to Turkey with Besiktas, after the Glasgow giants rejected a loan bid for the player, but are now reportedly in talks over a permanent deal which would cost up to £2.1million [Fanatik, 7 July].

Hagi, meanwhile, had expressed his desire to remain at Ibrox next season, though he may need a strong season to consolidate his position in the squad. The Romanian has been linked with a move to Italy this summer.
Davies was brought to the club last summer as one of Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s key signings but could be let go already as the club look to bring in funds to invest elsewhere. It has been reported in Football Scotland [2 June] that he is unlikely to leave this summer.
Lastly, Barisic is yet to be linked to a move away from Ibrox this summer, and began contract talks over a month ago [Daily Record, 7 June] – but there could be some movement if these talks stall.
