New Rangers transfer Dujon Sterling misses Germany trip as injury news emerges
New Rangers signing Dujon Sterling has not travelled to Germany for the club’s pre-season training camp, according to The Scottish Sun.
The 23-year-old was one of Beale’s first summer signings at Ibrox from English Premier League outfit Chelsea after spending a successful 2022/23 campaign on loan at Stoke featuring in 26 Championship games.
With Rangers set to undergo their pre-season plans for the new campaign in Germany, The Scottish Sun has reported (10 July) that the right-back has not travelled with the squad because of a calf injury.

It is believed that the issue is not deemed serious by the club’s medical staff with the club making a decision to leave Sterling behind to undergo treatment at Ibrox.
Not major, but still a blow
Sterling had certainly been given a warm welcome at Ibrox, where he joins from Chelsea having spent last season on loan at Stoke City.
Pre-season will have certainly provided the 23-year-old with the chance to prove himself to Beale to show that he is indeed the Gers’ long-term solution to Tavernier, but the injury blow now robs him of that chance.

Certainly, the injury is not serious which will have been pleasing to hear for Beale but Sterling now faces a setback in his progress at Ibrox and he may now be further behind his teammates in understanding how Beale wants to play ahead of the new campaign.
Pre-season is a crucial part of football, allowing players, especially new signings the chance to bed in, acclimatise and build relationships on and off the pitch with their teammates and Sterling’s injury blow may not be major but it now dampens his chances of making a swift impact at Ibrox.
Hopefully, his recovery and treatment won’t take too much time before the season starts.
