Update emerges on £2.5m-rated Nottingham Forest defender Jonathan Panzo as Rangers eye transfer swoop

Football Scotland have responded to rumours that Rangers are close to securing a deal for Nottingham Forest defender Jonathan Panzo.

According to the publication on 7 July, the £2.5million-rated 22-year-old is also wanted by clubs in England and Germany and the Premier League outfit are in talks with them as well.

However, any claims that a deal is close to being agreed with Rangers are wide off the mark and there’s still work that needs to be done for it to happen.

Act quickly

Rangers need to act quickly to get any deal for Panzo now that there appear to be more suitors waiting to sign him.

It’s evident that Forest do not see him being a first-team player and want to make the most of the interest shown in him.

Gers have been linked to the centre-back cum full-back for the past few months now and Michael Beale does appear to be a fan of the 22-year-old.

He can also play as a defensive midfielder and will give the Light Blues an important utility player in the side – something that often goes underappreciated.

It remains to be seen if Gers need to sell someone in order to afford the Panzo deal as they’ve already signed a number of players this summer.

The clubs interested in him will be aware of the Rangers links so it seems like the side that acts first will be able to secure his services.

In other Rangers news, the club have now received a breakthrough in their pursuit to complete another summer signing as a key target will not be signing an extension.
