Rangers secure £2.5m Cyriel Dessers discount as terms agreed at Ibrox
Rangers managed to negotiate £2.5million off of Cyriel Dessers’ transfer fee from Cremonese, according to the Daily Record.
In the print edition of the paper (7 July, back page), it was reported how the Italian side were holding out for £7m.
However, Dessers made clear his wish to move to the Scottish Premiership giants and eventually the Gers talked Cremonese down to a fee of £4.5m.

The same report mentioned that Rangers were first interested in Dessers four years ago when Steven Gerrard was in charge and now boss Michael Beale was first-team coach.
Every little helps
In a summer where Rangers are going through an extensive recruitment drive to freshen up their squad, any penny saved here and there is bound to help.
Dessers is the latest arrival in a summer that has seen Jack Butland, Dujon Sterling, Kieran Dowell, Sam Lammers, and Abdallah Sima arrive at Ibrox.

And he is unlikely to be the last to check in, with LAFC midfielder Jose Cifuentes, and Feyenoord forward Danilo on the list of reported targets.
What will make Rangers fans even happier is Dessers’ seeming desire to drive the move through. The Gers accrued 92 league points last term and were still nine shy of fierce rivals Celtic in the title race.
So, they are going to need players who are full of commitment to the cause and ready to give their all on the pitch, and Dessers has shown that desire nice and early. Let’s hope that continues.
In other Rangers news, a transfer update has landed in their persuit of Morgan Whittaker.
