Divine Mukasa thanks West Ham United as he confirms exit amid transfer links to Rangers and Newcastle

Teenage talent Divine Mukasa has made public his exit from West Ham amid links to a move north of the border to join Rangers.

A report from the online source the Secret Scout on Wednesday (5 July) suggested Mukasa’s next move was set to be made clear soon after visits to the Light Blues and Newcastle in the past week.

He looks to now be freely available to sign where he chooses having posted a thank you message to the Hammers after a “bittersweet” end to his 10-year association with the London side.

Rangers

Posting on his Instagram page the 15-year-old attacker wrote: “Thank you to all the players and staff at West Ham that have helped to develop me into both the player and person that I am today.

“This club has been my home for the past 10 years and for it to come to an end is bittersweet but it’s time to move on to the next chapter of my career.

“Best of luck to everyone at the club.”

Glasgow-bound?

Mukasa’s departure is now clear so attentions within the Rangers fanbase will turn to whether he is set to sign for the club’s academy.

The Light Blues are often on the opposite side of highly-rated talents moving to England so it will be a boost if the opposite is on the cards here.

Should he become a Gers player he would follow in the footsteps of Zak Lovelace who made the same move from West Ham’s heated London rivals Millwall this time last year, and made his first-team debut against Celtic in the 13 May Old Firm victory.

Rangers

Michael Beale is bringing in a whole host of first-team signings this summer, but stocking up on the next generation can never be ignored it appears the door is currently open for Mukasa to join the Rangers project too.

With high-flying Newcastle interested, and suggestions that treble-winners Manchester City also like the youngster, he clearly has a lot of talent.

If the Light Blues can succeed in bringing him in against that sort of competition it would have to be considered a coup, so his next move will be hotly anticipated.

In other Rangers news, clubs want to sign two first-team Ibrox players as Beale looks to move names on after signings.
