Rangers learn from their mistakes as they back Michael Beale transfer push

Rangers are learning from the mistakes they made in the transfer window with Giovanni van Bronckhorst, as they back Michael Beale’s radical squad-building methods.

Van Bronckhorst’s first summer transfer window at Rangers saw the club make six signings for a combined £14.8million, which seems to be sizeable backing for their manager, but with key players Calvin Bassey and Joe Arribo leaving for a combined £25.7million, it takes the shine off of a seemingly strong window.

On top of that, signings such as Antonio Colak and Ridvan Yilmaz proved inconsequential, with the former already being linked to a move away from Ibrox and the latter making just nine league appearances for the club, albeit largely because of the competition in his position.

Now, though, the club look to have learned from their mistakes and are backing Beale in every move he makes as he begins to renovate the squad and make it more his own.

Rangers have completed six signings already this summer, bringing in Jack Butland to fill their goalkeeping issues, Dujon Sterling to provide strong cover for James Tavernier at right-back, Kieran Dowell to replace Scott Arfield, and Sam Lammers and Abdallah Sima to add depth upfront, with more deals expected in the coming weeks.

Alongside Lammers and Sima, Cremonese striker Cyriel Dessers has completed a medical at the club, while links persist around the signings of Josh Maja from Bordeaux and Danilo from Feyenoord as Beale has identified centre forward as a problem position following the exit of Alfredo Morelos.

Alongside these potential additions come links to LAFC midfielder Jose Cifuentes and Nottingham Forest defender Jonathan Panzo, both of whom Beale is keen to see come through the door at Ibrox.

Already this summer, Rangers are filling the gaps left open by players leaving the club, and looking to add strength in depth to match the manager’s desires and requirements, as he looks to mould the squad into his own.

Rangers will be looking to win back the SPFL title following another mini period of dominance by their Old Firm rivals, and backing the manager in the transfer market will be the first step in allowing them to do so.

In other Rangers news, the club have made a transfer decision on player who wants move.
