Cyriel Dessers on verge of singing Rangers contract for new transfer

Rangers transfer target Cyriel Dessers is on the verge of signing his deal with the club after terms were agreed with Cremonese, according to the Daily Record.

Dessers is finally set to join the club following a medical, as he gets set to leave the Italian side, who will play in Serie B next season after their relegation from the Italian top flight.

This news comes following reports of the striker completing medical at Rangers on 4 July [Football Scotland], with Dessers set to become Rangers’ seventh summer signing in a major squad overhaul ahead of Michael Beale’s first full season.

Taking shape

Beale’s summer plans are now beginning to take shape, with the club having backed him strongly in the transfer market as Dessers would be their seventh signing, with more still expected through the door at Ibrox as they prepare for the new season.

Interest in Dessers has been reported as early as 5 June, a whole month ago, and the club will be happy they were finally able to pull off a deal for one of their main targets to bolster their attacking options.

Rangers’ squad has been heavily boosted this summer as they club back the manager’s plans to strengthen and mould the team into one that fits his ambitious play style and targets for the future, as the club look to compete in the Champions League and challenge Celtic for the SPFL title.

On top of a deal for Dessers, Rangers also looked close to completing a deal for LAFC midfielder Jose Cifuentes, with the report in the Daily Record now suggesting the deal may be delayed.
