Stephen McGinn predicts Antonio Colak exit saga at Rangers after Michael Beale decision

Stephen McGinn has predicted Rangers to sell Antonio Colak this summer after Michael Beale constantly overlooked the striker last season.

The Gers boss favoured fellow forward Alfredo Morelos more often than not last season, with the latter having since left Ibrox.

Despite the Colombian’s exit, pundit McGinn “can’t see” how Colak will be part of Beale’s plans for the upcoming campaign.

“In the first half of last season I felt a bit for Colak,” McGinn told Go Radio, as quoted by the Daily Record. “He was the only player in the team doing his part to keep their title bid alive. There was no doubt he could finish.

“I can’t see any way how he is part of it [next season]. This is because of how much Beale stuck with Morelos even in the condition he was in, the fact he wasn’t delivering.

“He still picked him over Colak. If Morelos wasn’t playing, he would sometimes put Fashion Sakala up front.”

Strange one

It really is a strange situation that Colak finds himself in at the Scottish giants, with not many managers in world football overlooking a striker with such a decent record in front of goal.

Countless players have come and gone at Ibrox over the years due to their struggles to adapt to Scottish football, but Colak had no such problems, with the 29-year-old scoring 18 goals from his 39 matches in all competitions in his debut campaign for the club.

That figure is made even more impressive given how the Croatian made plenty of appearances as a second-half substitute.

Despite his proficiency in the final third, it seems that Gers boss Beale is not a massive fan of the striker, who seems destined to leave the Scottish club this summer.

The arrival of fellow forward Sam Lammers and the impending arrival of Cyriel Dessers simply adds to Colak’s uncertain Gers future.
