Big-money claim emerges as James Tavernier linked with Rangers exit

Rangers defender James Tavernier has been linked with an exit this summer amid links with the super-rich Saudi Arabian league.

According to the Fourth Official, only a “ridiculous” transfer offer will see the Gers allow the Englishman to leave this summer.

Not only is the 31-year-old the captain, but he’s also a fan favourite at Ibrox and will undoubtedly demand a huge transfer fee.

Via Twitter, T4O wrote, “It has to be ridiculous money for Rangers to even consider parting ways with Tavernier.”

Cash in on a big offer

Tavernier is undoubtedly more important to Michael Beale than anyone else inside the dressing room due to his leadership abilities.

Even on the field of play, he’s their go to penalty taker and appears to have an assist in him in every game.

However, one cannot deny that his body is getting old and he’s already on the wrong side of 30 right now.

It’s going to be hard to expect this kind of consistency and fitness from him for a long time so if there’s a good bid on the table, Gers must be open.

Saudi clubs will overpay for players and if it’s in the eight-figure region and Rangers can push it close to or even beyond their record sale, it’s worth considering.

This will give Beale funds to quicken his rebuild and perhaps strengthen in areas he thought would not be possible this summer.

In other Rangers news, the club have now received a breakthrough in their pursuit to complete another summer signing as a key target will not be signing an extension.
