Rangers transfer news as Danilo tells Feyenoord he wants Ibrox move

Feyenoord striker Danilo has told the Dutch side that he wants to switch to Scottish giants Rangers, according to the Daily Record.

Michael Beale’s side have been interested in the 24-year-old having recently had a £3.5million offer for the Brazilian declined [Sky Sports], with the Eredivisie side valuing him at £5million.

However, Danilo has made his intentions clear and wants to leave the Rotterdam club that stormed the Dutch top-flight last season, as a move to Glasgow could edge closer.

Seeking a new challenge

This feels like shrewd business from Rangers, if they can get it over the line.

Danilo netted 12 goals in all competitions for Feyenoord, even ending the season as their second-most prolific scorer in the Eredivisie.

However, the Brazilian is slipping further down the pecking order of attacking options for Arne Slot’s champions after their signing of Mexican international Santiago Gimenez from Cruz Azul.

While the £3.5million was rejected last month, Danilo’s reported desire to join the Scottish league should do a lot to help get the transfer moving, and with a difference of just £1.5million in valuation the deal seems very likely.

The former Ajax man can boast some impressive stats also, with 0.61 non-penalty goals per 90 seeing him in the 89th percentile for this metric [FBRef].

While his amount of minutes is not particularly high (playing around 14 games worth of minutes in the last 365 days), this does show that he can make a real impact as a starter or from the bench.

He will also add to Beale’s growing attacking options, following the signings of Sam Lammers and Abdallah Sima this window. Beale will be able to experiment and refresh the squad and will hope that he has suitably replaced the prolific Alfredo Morelos who has left the club.

Furthermore, Rangers look set to complete the signing of Cyriel Dessers [Sven Claes] from Cremonese which will bolster their attack even more.

Rangers

A clinical finisher with plenty of domestic and European experience, Danilo could prove to be a really exciting addition to the SPL under Beale next season if he can get it done.
