Official Rangers partner shares ‘confirmed go’ update on Cyriel Dessers transfer as ‘sixth summer signing’ now imminent
Cyriel Dessers will be the sixth Rangers signing of the summer ‘barring any last minute disasters’, according to Four Lads Had A Dream.
Michael Beale has been chasing the Cremonese forward throughout the window so far but the deal appeared to have reached an impasse over valuation of the 28-year-old as the Gers grew “increasingly unhappy” in negotiations.
But Fabrizio Romano reported on 30 June that the key breakthrough had finally arrived on the Nigerian international striker, and it appears everything has continued smoothly since then.
Stevie Clifford of Four Lads wrote on Twitter Monday afternoon (3 July): “As reported by Fabrizio Romano, Cyriel Dessers will complete his move to Rangers within the next few days. Everything is agreed subject to a medical, this is a confirmed go.
“Barring any last minute disasters and medical completion he will be Rangers sixth summer signing.”
Admirable work
It obviously all depends on how everything translates onto the pitch next term but the transfer window is going along at a rate of knots so far and even the more difficult deals are increasingly getting hauled towards completion.
Alfredo Morelos’ departure, along with Ryan Kent, leaves a lot of output to replace despite whatever faults the pair had, and with Malik Tillman’s loan ending there are gaps to fill in attack.
Sam Lammers came in with relatively little difficulty before the loan deal for Abdallah Sima materialised and moved to completion quite quickly, but Beale clearly wants plenty more firepower.

In Dessers he looks to be closing in on one the last of his primary targets [Mail Plus, 24 June], and amid suggestions he is still going after Danilo from Feyenoord on top the summer developments are bound to raise expectations for the new season.
As new arrivals added up last summer there were also hopes that there would be a sustained title race though and things didn’t go to plan, with injuries keeping a number of signings out for much of the season and Giovanni van Bronckhorst ultimately losing his job.
So while there is a lot to like about the way that Beale is going about things during this window nothing is guaranteed until he gets the players together and working as a unit.
In other Rangers news, one first-team Ibrox ace has been lined up to be the first name on the team sheet at an Italian club as they target a summer transfer.
