Michael Beale big admirer of Jonathan Panzo as Rangers transfer news emerges at Ibrox
Rangers are on the trail of Nottingham Forest defender Jonathan Panzo, as Michael Beale is a big admirer of his and has specifically put him on his wanted list, according to a report by the Daily Mail [3 July, page 61].
The report suggests that Beale has been personally impressed by Panzo’s performances for Coventry City, and would be the one pushing for the move to go through as he looks to recruit more players this summer, having made five signings already, with a sixth on the brink of arriving.
Panzo joined Nottingham Forest in January 2022 while the midlands club were looking to gain promotion from the Championship, but made just one senior appearance for the club before being loaned to Coventry for the 2022/23 season, where he was allowed to impress, and caught Beale’s eye, with 29 league appearances.

Beale is building a strong squad with depth in all areas
It has felt lately that Rangers’ pursuit of new strikers to bolster their attack has been their only focus for the rest of the transfer window, with Sam Lammers and Abdallah Sima arriving already, Cyriel Dessers on the brink [Calciomercato, 2 July], and at least three other forwards linked with a move.
The news that Beale now wants the club to target Panzo as further depth for the defensive position shows the club are trying to build a squad with plenty of strength in depth at Ibrox.

Panzo would be a good piece of recruitment, with his versatility and ability to play at either centre-back or left-back an added bonus to his general ability, and would rival Ben Davies and John Souttar for the position alongside Connor Goldson in Gers’ defence.
Forest could also look to cash in on Panzo, with the defender making just one senior appearance at the club, after a successful loan spell which has seen his value surge.
In other Rangers news, one Ibrox ace has been made the top target for an Italian side.
