Compensation update emerges as Rangers set to announce Cyriel Dessers transfer this week

KRC Genk will reportedly no longer be entitled to any compensation as Rangers are set to secure the services of Cremonese striker Cyriel Dessers.

Het Belang van Limburg [3 July, Page 11] claim that the 28-year-old is set to be announced as a Gers player by the end of the week.

The Nigerian striker will be undergoing his medical on Monday and Tuesday before being officially unveiled as new signing.

Good move

Michael Beale surely would’ve wanted a striker as a priority after it was known that Alfredo Morelos will be leaving the club in the summer.

The Colombian’s head did not seem at it for a number of months before it was eventually revealed that he will no longer be at Rangers.

However, while his attitude was all over the place and his lack of professionalism was certainly not something needed in the dressing room, he delivered time and again on the field of play.

Hopefully, Dessers can fill the void left by Morelos and be a reliable talisman as they won’t be easy shoes to fit into.

Rangers

If he can get close to 20 league goals a season, he will already have proved to be worth the outlay for the Glasgow outfit.

It also remains to be seen what it means for Antonio Colak’s future as he will slip further down the pecking order at Rangers.

In other Rangers news, the club have now received a breakthrough in their pursuit to complete another summer signing as a key target will not be signing an extension.
