Rangers transfer news: Abdallah Sima to ‘shine’ in SPFL after loan arrival from Brighton amid ‘really good’ verdict

Abdallah Sima is a “really good” player, says Dean Jones, who has backed him to “shine” at Rangers after he was announced as part of Michael Beale’s summer transfer business.

The 22-year-old forward became the Ibrox boss’ fifth signing of the window when his move was confirmed on Thursday (29 June), following a campaign at relegated Angers in Ligue 1.

And Jones believes it is likely to be a very beneficial development for the Light Blues based on the Senegal international’s ability displayed previously at Slavia Prague.

Rangers

Speaking to GIVEMESPORT the former Eurosport journalist said: “Sima is a really good player. He’s somebody that could undoubtedly shine in the Scottish Premiership.

“I watched quite a lot of him when he was at Slavia Prague, and he stood out every time I saw him there. I’ve kept an eye on him and see where he might end up.”

Breakout

If everything goes to plan then Sima is the sort of player who could prove to be a game changer for Rangers this season.

Only just 22 in June the young forward has had a difficult pair of campaigns after translating his outstanding 2020/21 season, in which he faced off against Beale and the Light Blues, into a big move to the Premier League with Brighton.

Injury on loan at Stoke the season before last and then being heavily involved for the worst team in the French top flight last term may have stalled his progress, but if he can stay fit at Ibrox it could be just what he needs.

Rangers

He will immediately go from a relegation scrap to a (presumed) title race, and with the new-look attacking department still being formulated there is scope for him to have a big role.

With the departures of Ryan Kent and Alfredo Morelos this summer the are big gaps to fill and new signings could slot straight into the starting XI.

Should Sima be able to take up a similar role he did in the Czech Republic, where he scored 16 goals in all competitions three years ago, then it will be exactly what he, Rangers, and parent club Brighton are hoping for.

On paper it looks like a very exciting arrival, but until games start in a few weeks it is still all hypothetical.

In other Rangers news, Beale is still chasing attacking reinforcements with a third and forth on the cards according to Sky Sports.
