‘Only the signature’ missing as Cyriel Dessers close to Rangers transfer

Rangers are close to making the arrival of Cyriel Dessers official with “only the signature” missing from the deal, according to Calciomercato (2 July).

The Gers agreed a fee for the Nigerian striker on Friday (30 June), meaning Michael Beale has finally got his man as the club close in on a sixth signing of the summer.

The player was due for a medical over the weekend and now according to reports in Italy all that is missing is the signature and exchange of documents to make the transfer official.

“Adventure in Italy over for Cyriel Dessers,” they wrote (2 July).

“The ex-Cremonese has agreed with the Rangers, only the signature and the exchange of the latest documents are missing.”

Excellent

Pre-season has already begun and Beale will soon have yet another new face to introduce to the old guard ahead of the new campaign.

Dessers is signing number six after the arrivals of Jack Butland, Kieran Dowell, Dujon Sterling, Sam Lammers and Abdallah Sima and the boss has been true to his word about the overhaul of the playing staff.

Getting in new players was essential to the rebuilding process and the fact the board has been able to do it quickly to give them as much time to settle and give Beale more time to work with them is perfect.

It also certainly helps that Celtic are undergoing huge, unexpected changes this summer and that should help the team to close the gap.

Dessers was clearly one of the manager’s prime targets for this window, and the board have delivered. Now it’s time for both player and manager to deliver too.
