Rangers transfer news as Rabbi Matondo free to leave Ibrox in new twist

Rabbi Matondo is free to leave Rangers this summer after being made available for transfer at Ibrox, according to Darren Witcoop.

The Mirror journalist has reported that the Welsh international could move back to English football after spending time on loan at Stoke back in 2021.

Matondo only arrived in Glasgow last summer from Schalke, but may not have done enough to impress Michael Beale after being signed by Giovanni van Bronckhorst.

Writing on his personal Twitter account, Witcoop said: “Wales international Rabbi Matondo is free to leave Glasgow Rangers this summer.

“Matondo spent a loan spell with Stoke in 2021 and could return to English football after being made available by the Scottish club.”

Spree.

Beale looks set to really start opening that exit door now, with the likes of Glen Kamara and Scott Wright also said to be available for a move this summer.

It comes after a rapid start to the transfer window in terms of new arrivals, with Cyriel Dessers set to join Sam Lammers, Dujon Sterling, Abdallah Sima, Jack Butland and Kieran Dowell.

With money now being spent too, John Bennett and the board will want some cash brought back into the club to lower the outlay at Ibrox.

Clearing out the deadwood who have not proved themselves with doubts still surrounding them will be brutal, but it will be a step that has been needed for years now.

Alfredo Morelos and Ryan Kent have been allowed to move, so no one is safe it seems, and Beale is leading the way to a new era at Ibrox, and it is time to bring it on.
