Rangers make cheeky Danilo offer as Feyenoord respond this week

Rangers reportedly made a “cheeky” cut-price bid to sign Feyenoord striker Danilo which was quickly knocked back by the Dutch champions, according to the Daily Record.

According to Glasgow World [29 June], the Gers remain in talks with Feyenoord for Danilo’s services after a report emerged in the Scottish Sun [28 June] that the Dutch Eredivisie giants wanted a fee of around £7m.

With Beale desperately looking to bolster his attacking options following the signing of Sam Lammers and Abdallah Sima this past week, the Gers are also set to “clinch” a £4.5million deal for top summer target Cyriel Dessers, [Mail+, 30 June].

And according to the Daily Record newspaper [1 July, page 55], Rangers tried to sign Danilo alongside a deal for Dessers and placed a cut-price bid for the Brazilian which fell well short of Feyenoord’s valuation.

Cheeky

It’s easy to see why Feyenoord slapped a £7m price tag on Danilo’s head given his tremendous form over the course of their 22/23 domestic success, but Rangers coming in with a £3.5m bid is definitely cheeky and may well be considered an insult to Feyenoord.

Danilo could well have been a superb addition for the Gers given his current abilities and stark potential, but it feels as Rangers now don’t mind losing out on his services after seeing a long-running summer transfer saga come to a close with the news regarding Dessers.

Rangers

The Cremonese striker has been Michael Beale’s number-one target for the duration of the window. A physical presence is required to replace the outgoing Alfredo Morelos and the Nigerian target man fits the bill.

The Nigerian wasn’t prolific for the Serie A bottom-dwellers, but his reputation in Holland is certainly pleasing and he could adapt well to the Scottish Premiership, especially with such star quality around him in the Rangers team.

A move could be concluded relatively quickly now. With the squad set to jet out to Germany, Beale will now be desperate for the Nigerian to be amongst the squad.

In other Rangers news, the club have now received a breakthrough in their pursuit to complete another summer signing as a key target will not be signing an extension.
