Jose Cifuentes expected to put pen-to-paper in Rangers transfer soon – Chris Jack

Rangers and Michael Beale are expected to seal the transfer of Los Angeles midfielder Jose Cifuentes sooner rather than later, according to Chris Jack.

Mail Plus reported on 15 June that the Gers could be set for a breakthrough with the 24-year-old this weekend (1-2 July) after weeks of links with the Ibrox outfit.

Beale has already snapped up five players to his first team ranks this summer – Kieran Dowell, Jack Butland, Dujon Sterling, Sam Lammers, and most recently Abdallah Sima – however, the Gers aren’t expected to stop there with further additions tipped.

Writing for Herald Scotland, Jack said: “Rangers remain in discussions with Feyenoord over a move for striker Danilo, while Cremonese star Cyriel Dessers is also a live target.

“Jose Cifuentes, the Los Angeles FC midfielder, is expected to put pen-to-paper sooner rather than later.”

Slow moving

Although Rangers have been on pin-point form through their acquisitions of the aforementioned quintet, the Cifuentes saga seems to be dragging on for an age.

With just six months of his contract remaining at the MLS outfit, Cifuentes is widely expected to leave Los Angeles for a cut-price fee – an arrangement that Beale knows well.

The English manager has already snapped up both Todd Cantwell and Nicolas Raskin just months before the end of their contracts, so he knows how to get a deal of this nature over the line.

Although the rest of the Gers’ transfer activity has been finalised at a pace recently, fans might need to be patient on the Cifuentes deal.

The Ecuadorian looks destined to be wearing the Rangers top next season, and it now looks like a matter of when rather than if a transfer is sealed.

Assuming everything is still going to plan in negotiations, this one should be over the line sooner rather than later.
