Rangers transfer news: Cremonese sporting director issues update on Cyriel Dessers

Cremonese sporting director Simone Jacket has issued an update on the future of Rangers target Cyriel Dessers this summer.

In an interview with Sportitalia [28 June], Jacket confirmed that talks were ongoing with the 55-time champions over the Nigerian striker.

With a bid already submitted for the 28-year-old, per the Daily Record, the club chief has revealed that they’re waiting for a new proposal from the Light Blues.

Jacket said, “There is a negotiation with the Rangers underway but at the moment everything is still because we are waiting for them to formulate the new proposal.”

Priority?

Per the Daily Record [21 June], the Italian club wants £6.5million for the African striker and it’s evident that Michael Beale wants a new forward in as soon as possible.

Sam Lammers has joined and while he can play as a nine, his goal-scoring record suggests that he’s better off featuring as a 10.

Dessers has been a name that’s been mentioned for the past few weeks and there now is confirmation of talks from the club’s end as well.

Rangers

It’s understood that along with him, Feyenoord striker Danilo is also being considered so it remains to be seen who the priority is for the club, at the moment.

Both forwards have their merits and the adaptability to life in Scotland is something that must also be considered by Rangers.

They’re also closing in on bringing in Abdallah Sima and while he can play as a striker, the assumption is that he is being side to play on the left flank.

In other Rangers news, the club have now received a breakthrough in their pursuit to complete another summer signing as a key target will not be signing an extension.
