Rangers transfer news as talks continue after Jose Cifuentes and Abdallah Sima moves

Rangers remain in talks with three striker targets Cyriel Dessers of Cremonese, Danilo of Feyenoord and Benie Traore of BK Hacken, according to Glasgow World.

The Gers are desperately on the prowl for a forward this summer, following the departure of Alfredo Morelos on a free contract with his contract running out on 30 June.

While Rangers have been proactive in filling the void, signing Atalanta forward Sam Lammers, Beale is still hoping to further add to his firepower and has been linked with Dessers, Traore and Danilo, after seeing a £3.5m bid rejected for the latter [Scottish Sun, 27 June].

And according to Glasgow World [29 June], Rangers are also currently working on completing deals for Jose Cifuentes and Brighton forward Abdallah Sima after a deal was agreed with the Seagulls on Wednesday [Sky Sports News, 28 June].

Mean business

Indeed, Rangers’ top priority this summer must be adding to their goalscoring firepower following the departure of Morelos, and there have been several names linked with the club already showing that Michael Beale means business this summer.

The signing of Lammers represents smart and sensible business by the Light Blues, but they would certainly have been deemed foolish not to add to that with the signing of another striker or two – one possessing the capabilities to score goals at a consistent rate.

With Sima and Cifuentes set to follow the four additions they’ve already conjured up over the past few weeks, Rangers may already be further ahead than their rivals in preparation for the new campaign, providing plenty of optimism and encouragement that the Gers can start the new season in lightning fashion.

Rangers have been linked with some promising names in recent days and Feyenoord’s Danilo looks a very good proposition for Beale to explore, but whether the club would be willing to increase their offer to £5m is another matter entirely.

Nonetheless, the Light Blues are sending out a real statement in the transfer market right now, and Celtic must beware.
