Antonio Colak should quit Rangers as confirmed transfer development emerges

Rangers have now confirmed the loan signing of Abdallah Sima from Rangers – and that could be bad news for Antonio Colak.

The Gers announced the signing of the 22-year-old Senegalese international on Thursday afternoon as Michael Beale looks to revamp his attack.

Colak endured a tough first season with the Gers and the Scottish Sun reported on 9 May that the Croatian could well exit the club during the summer. Beale has been eager to add strength and depth to his forward line and Sima could push the 29-year-old further down the pecking order.

The Brighton forward can operate across the front four positions and provides Beale with an alternative option. Sam Lammers has already arrived from Atalanta and there could yet be more forwards coming through the door.

Talks are currently at a stalemate for Cyriel Dessers although Rangers’ interest still remains. A bid has also been lodged for Feyenoord striker Danilo.

All these links should be cause for concern for Colak – along with the Light Blues’ current forward contingent. Kemar Roofe is another who will have to fight tooth and nail for his place in Beale’s starting XI.

However, one positive is that competition for places is a good thing. It maintains performance levels and will allow for the most in-form eleven to be chosen at any one time.

Improvement is desperately required heading into what is set to be a brilliantly-poised Scottish Premiership campaign. Brendan Rodgers’ return to Glasgow means Beale’s summer transfer work cannot let up.

In other Rangers news, a £7million update has emerged as the club target another first-team signing.
