Rangers will need to make a ‘historic bid’ to sign Benie Traore as transfer news drops
Swedish club Hacken have told Rangers they will need to make a “historic bid” if they want to sign Benie Traore this summer, as shared by the Glasgow Times.
With Rangers looking to strengthen their striker options, and becoming frustrated in negotiations for Cyriel Dessers, the Glasgow side has identified the Ivory Coast attacker, who has also been linked to Celtic, as a target this summer.
According to the report, Hacken’s record sale is the £3.5million they received when selling Patrik Walemark to Feyenoord two years ago, so any deal for Traore would have to be over that price.

The club’s sporting director Martin Ericsson has stated that they are in a “win-win situation” where the player either leaves for good money, or they keep him.
“I will not comment on any exact figure for a sale, but it is clear that it would have to be historic amounts for us,” he said.
Pay the price tag
Traore looks like an exciting option for Rangers to explore. At just 20 years old, he has scored 12 goals and made two assists in 13 league games, so is clearly capable of finding the net.
With any deal for Dessers looking more and more complicated, spending less money on a younger, more exciting player could be the way to go as Rangers look to create depth upfront, following the signing of Sam Lammers and the potential deal for Abdallah Sima.

Bringing in a player at just 20 years old could give more value to Rangers than just his talent, as there is potential to sell for a large profit in the future if his time at the club is as successful as they will hope, not to mention pipping their Glasgow rivals to a signing will always make it sweeter.
The transfer fee, north of £3.5million and “historic” for Hacken, would still be affordable for Rangers whose other targets seem to be of higher value.
In other Rangers news, the Bears have been granted “unprecedented” permission to take the SPFL to court over their sponsorship dispute.
