Rangers transfer news: Multiple attackers still wanted with Abdallah Sima set for Ibrox switch, three more names in the frame

Rangers have no intention of slowing down with attacking recruits as they are “actively” seeking two more arrivals as a “minimum”, Rangers Review reports.

A loan move for Brighton’s Abdallah Sima is expected to be one as early as this week, but with three other named targets in the forward department that is not where activity is likely to stop.

There are difficulties with the other targets, and various options are still at the club, but with the future of Antonio Colak in doubt there could be extensive movement before the close of the window, which includes a possible departure for Rabbi Matondo as he risks getting buried down the order.

Rangers

According to Rangers Review: “Rangers are actively looking to strengthen their attacking options with at least two more signings expected.

“A loan deal for Abdallah Sima is nearing completion, while there’s genuine interest in Cyriel Dessers, Danilo and Josh Maja.

“Sam Lammers, Kemar Roofe and Antonio Colak are already in the building and Matondo will realistically be the sixth or seventh choice up front.”

Push

Arguably no side can ever have enough in attack, and certainly with Ryan Kent and Alfredo Morelos removed from the options, Beale is going to want as much as he can get his hands on this summer.

Lammers’ scoring record is going to have to improve to make his Rangers move a success, but there is more to his game than just goals.

Sima could be a real danger man if he can hit the ground running, and the incumbents can’t be totally forgotten, but the Light Blues scored 21 fewer SPFL goals last season than champions Celtic so there is a gap to be bridged.

More money looks like it is going to be needed for both Dessers and Danilo if they are to have a chance of being added to the Ibrox squad, while Maja could be the opposite but his future is tied to Bordeaux’s dispute over their cancelled final game of the season.

Should the former Sunderland man indeed be available for a free transfer as expected he won’t be short of suitors, so none of the further named targets are simple to tie up.

But there may well be more players who have been looked at in recent months but haven’t yet come to light, and they come into play later in the window if Beale gives up on the current pursuits.

Either way it doesn’t look like the rest of the summer will be quiet by any means as he looks to source as much firepower as possible.

In other Rangers news, Chris Sutton ended up insulting his own former side after being baited into a reaction by Todd Cantwell.
