Rangers may yet spend £10m+ as transfer news emerges from Ibrox

Rangers may have to pay upwards of £10m this summer to land two forward transfer targets, according to The Scotsman.

The Gers are desperately on the prowl for a forward this summer, following the departure of Alfredo Morelos on a free contract with his contract running out on 30 June.

While Rangers have been proactive in filling the void, signing Atalanta forward Sam Lammers, Beale is still hoping to further add to his firepower currently linked with the likes of Cyriel Dessers, Josh Maja, Hearts striker Lawrence Shankland and Feyenoord’s Brazilian striker Danilo, after seeing a £3.5m bid rejected [Scottish Sun, 27 June].

The Gers are also in advanced talks to sign Brighton & Hove Albion forward Abdallah Simah.

And according to The Scotsman [28 June], it may have to take up to £10m for Rangers to secure the two striker targets they need this summer.

Not bad

Indeed, Rangers’ top priority this summer must be adding to their goalscoring firepower following the departure of Morelos, and there have been several names linked with the club already.

The signing of Lammers represents smart and sensible business by the Light Blues, but they would be foolish not to add to that with the signing of another striker – one possessing the capabilities to score goals at a consistent rate.

Rangers

And £10m for two goalscorers is simply not bad business at all. Considering the going rate and market values of some of Europe’s most ruthless finishers, £10m for two strikers seems like a bargain for Rangers.

The Gers still have Antonio Colak on the books but there are doubts about his capabilities in firing Rangers past Celtic next season, and there’s the likelihood that he won’t be a Rangers player when the season kicks off again in August.

Rangers have been linked with some promising names in recent days and Feyenoord’s Danilo looks a very good proportion for Beale to explore, but whether the club would be willing to increase their offer to £5m is another matter entirely.

What’s key though, is that Rangers must be quick to land their top targets to ensure Michael Beale is well prepped for pre-season.
