Rangers hit Cyriel Dessers ‘stalemate’ in Cremonese talks

Rangers’ move for Cremonese striker Cyriel Dessers has hit a “stalemate” at present, according to The Daily Mail.

The Daily Record reported on 21 June that the Light Blues’ move for the Nigerian stiker is still on, but the soon-to-be Serie B side are demanding £6.5million.

The Scottish Sun shared on 25 June that Rangers are becoming “increasingly” frustrated with Cremonese’s valuation of the 28-year-old, but still remain in talks over a summer transfer.

Mail+ now suggest that talks have indeed ground to a halt with no resolution close.

Move on

Rangers need to move on when it comes to Dessers.

The Nigerian may be keen on a move to Ibrox but if a deal cannot be struck soon, the board must look elsewhere.

In fact, it seems they already have moved on. Feyenoord striker Danilo has emerged as a potential target and if Rangers can land the Brazilian, it would be a smart piece of business.

His record in Holland is mightily impressive which means he could take the Scottish Premiership by storm if his move to Ibrox does materialise.

Sam Lammers has already arrived, but another striker is desperately required. It’s encouraging to see Beale target a number of forwards to cover all basis in case one or two transfers fall through.

Rangers should certainly be looking to shelve their move for Dessers now. The asking price is far too high and there’s very little chance of the 28-year-old providing the club with any sell-on value.

In other Rangers news, club’s £9m bid looks pointless as transfer update emerges on Beale target.
