Malik Tillman Rangers return speculated as US-based ace speaks out

Malik Tillman’s brother Timothy has admitted the former Rangers loanee really enjoyed his loan spell with the Gers during the 2022/23 season.

The Light Blues had a £5million option to sign the 21-year-old during the summer, however, their request was rejected by Bayern Munich, with the American attracting interest from elsewhere (Kicker).

Timothy, who plays for LAFC in the MLS has since claimed he’s unsure of what the future holds for the attacking midfielder.

“I don’t know what the future holds for Malik. But I will say he really likes it in Glasgow and with Rangers,” he said (Daily Record, 28 June).

“During the Christmas break, I went to Glasgow for a nice break with our mother at Malik’s place. We had a great time. The three of us have a very close family bond.

“In my life, there is nothing more important than Malik and my mother. Malik is due to come to Los Angeles to visit me soon too.”

Unlikely

It’s fairly clear that Tillman won’t be returning to Ibrox permanently.

Another loan move cannot be ruled out at present, but with Brighton and Brentford both tracking the 21-year-old, a Premier League move seems like the most likely outcome. He was levels above the average Scottish Premiership defender and made things look rather easy during his time at Ibrox.

With a number of new players coming through the door, it’s a shame that Michael Beale won’t have the chance to deploy Tillman in a new-looked front line.

Nevertheless, the Rangers boss will be happy with the business he’s done so far. Sam Lammers is the headline attacking signing at present, but more will arrive.

Cyriel Dessers and Danilo are both firmly on Beale’s wishlist – with the Gers seeing a £3.5million bid rejected for the latter on Tuesday.

At present, the Feyenoord striker looks the more likely to come through the door, with negotiations with Cremonese at a standstill when it comes to Dessers.
