£7m update as Rangers table first bid for Feyenoord striker Danilo

Rangers have reportedly submitted their first offer for Feyenoord striker Danilo but that has been turned down by the Dutch side.

According to the Scottish Sun [28 June], their initial bid was worth £3.5million but that was not enough to satisfy the Dutch champions.

They want a fee of £7million for the 24-year-old Brazilian striker as talks are ongoing to secure his services this summer.

Worth signing?

Rangers cannot begin the new season without signing a new striker as Alfredo Morelos’ departure has left them in a lurch.

No matter his off-field issues, he still delivered on the field of play and was a constant goal threat for the club whenever he played.

Replacing him is not going to be easy or cheap which is what has led to delays in getting a new striker over the line.

He bagged 10 goals and provided three assists en route to Feyenoord winning the league last season and there’s nothing to suggest why he won’t get more goals in the SPFL.

Even Antonio Colak’s numbers were slightly underwhelming before he moved to Ibrox but he enjoyed a good start to his Rangers career.

It remains to be seen if Gers end up paying their asking price or can succeed in negotiations and bringing down the price.

In other Rangers news, the club have now received a breakthrough in their pursuit to complete another summer signing as a key target will not be signing an extension.
