Rangers news: Update emerges as club set for legal battle with SPFL over sponsorship dispute
Rangers have reportedly been granted “unprecedented” permission by the Scottish FA to take the SPFL to court over the cinch sponsorship dispute.
According to the Glasgow Times [26 June], Gers are seeking an apology and legal costs over the long-running dispute with the government body.
The Light Blues successfully made their claim that their current contract agreement with Park’s Motor Group prohibited them from providing cinch with advertising inventory.

The report also claimed, “With legal expenses already running into hundreds of thousands of pounds for both the SPFL and Rangers, the dispute over the deal – worth roughly £1.5million a season – may end up ultimately costing the league a hugely significant portion of that revenue.”
About time
Rangers were well within their means to stand their ground and prove they were not in the wrong so it’s a good thing to see this happening.
Credit must also be given to the Scottish FA for backing this move as they can clearly see who’s in the right and who most certainly isn’t.
Once the contract was revised, the SPFL told Park that they will apologise and even look to compensate for the legal fees.

However, that did not happen and it feels like Rangers thought enough was enough and they decided to go down the legal route.
All the club want is to be given credit and also expose the double standards and ineptitude of the people in charge of the SPFL.
It’s also good to have a decent amount of money through the door but it’s their money at the end of the day and no less than what they deserve.
In other Rangers news, the club are now close to sealing another major signing after the announcement of Sam Lammers in their biggest acquisition of the summer window.
