Rangers could sign Abdullah Sima permanently as Roberto De Zerbi ‘option’ emerges

Rangers could have an “option” to make Abdullah Sima’s loan move permanent as he closes in on his Ibrox switch, according to Chris Jack.

The 22-year-old Brighton forward is expected to complete his loan transfer this week as Michael Beale’s summer overhaul continues in earnest (The Herald, 27 June).

It’s believed “sources” are confident of a deal for the Senegalese striker and that the Gers could make his move permanent if Roberto De Zerbi rules that Sima is not part of his longer-term plans.

Exciting

Sima is a signing to get excited about.

The 22-year-old enjoyed a profitable season in France with Angers SCO and could take the Scottish Premiership by storm.

Furthermore, it’s encouraging to see a permanent move mooted. The loan market has to be utilised, but clubs can often be left with egg on their faces when successful loans depart. Malik Tillman is an excellent recent example at Ibrox.

The American would have been a superb acquisition, but his stellar performances in a Rangers shirt mean he is now out of the Gers’ reach.

Rangers

Brighton and Brentford have been linked with the attacking midfielder as Bayern Munich look to recoup a big fee for the 21-year-old.

On the whole, Rangers fans will be largely impressed with the business that has been done so far. Problem areas have been addressed and there are a number of signings still in the pipeline.

Lots of reasons to be positive at Ibrox.

In other Rangers news, the club are now close to sealing another major signing after the announcement of Sam Lammers in their biggest acquisition of the summer window.
