Rangers agree everything to sign Abdallah Sima, Brighton ace to undergo medical – official Ibrox source

Four Lads Had A Dream have all but confirmed the signing of Abdallah Sima at Rangers.

The club’s official media partner took to Twitter on Tuesday night (27 June) to report that Rangers have agreed a loan deal with Brighton for the 22-year-old Senegal international.

Four Lads add that the deal will be announced before the end of Friday and barring any late hitches, Sima will be a Rangers player for the 2023/24 Scottish Premiership season.

It is understood that the whole deal remains subject to a medical.

All but done

Rangers deserve a lot of credit for moving fast this summer.

Although some fans may raise questions about the quality of certain arrivals at Ibrox, you cannot dispute that the aim of the game this summer was to quickly overhaul the squad so Michael Beale had as much time as possible to work with them before the start of the next campaign.

Sima spent the 2022/23 season on loan at Angers in France.

The former Slavia Prague attacker scored five goals and supplied two assists in 34 Ligue 1 appearances for Angers, who were relegated to Ligue 2.

Rangers

Sima did score against Lyon, Monaco and Marseille, while even assisting a goal against French champions Paris Saint-Germain.

However, he only started 19 times so there will no doubt be questions raised about the quality of the Brighton loanee.

Sima struggled to play consistently for the worst team in Ligue 1 last season so what makes Rangers think he can be a regular starter at Ibrox next season in the Scottish Premiership and, hopefully, in the Champions League?

He’s young, yes. And he will get better.

But this loan deal benefits Brighton more than Rangers.

Again, credit is due for the front-footed approach to this transfer window but maybe we’ll have signed better players if we waited a bit instead of rushing in for deals.

Let’s see how this pans out.

In other Rangers news, the Light Blues have been tipped to make as many as four more signings still.
