Feyenoord reject Rangers transfer offer for Danilo as Michael Beale striker hunt flails

Rangers have had a bid rejected by Feyenoord for Brazilian striker Danilo after tabling an opening offer on Tuesday, according to VI (27 June).

Danilo scored 14 goals and registered three assists in the 2022/23 season as they lifted the Eredivisie title, but found himself in and out of the team behind Santiago Gimenez.

Rangers tabled an offer and entered into “concrete” talks according to 1908, but in an update the bid has been rejected as it “does not come close” to their valuation of the player.

“Although Rangers FC officially reported to Feyenoord, the champion has refused the offer for Danilo,” they wrote.

“The amount that the Scottish top club wants to pay does not come close to the price that Feyenoord has in mind.

“For the time being, the striker will therefore remain in De Kuip.

“Nevertheless, the club will continue to listen if clubs come forward with the right offer.”

Moving quickly

Rangers are moving swiftly in the transfer market this summer because they want business done as quickly as possible, and they’re not hanging around.

The deal for Cyriel Dessers is clearly being held up right now and rather than just persist with it the club are now instead making moves on other potential targets to ensure they aren’t held up too much.

Dessers’ goal record isn’t the strongest anyway and Danilo has shown that he has the quality to play in Europe and lead the line in a team battling for trophies.

It could be argued that he is a better option for the striker position anyway and fans can be excited that the club are moving for him.

As it stands the clubs are apart on their valuations of the player, but it’s very rare than any opening bid gets accepted anyway so it’s definitely one to keep an eye on.
