Rangers transfer news as Michael Beale makes U-turn for Abdallah Sima deal

Michael Beale is prepared to go back on his “no-loans” policy at Rangers in order to strike a deal to land Abdallah Simah from Premier League club Brighton, according to Keith Jackson.

The Gers are in talks with the Seagulls over a loan move for the attacker, who spent last season with Angers in Ligue 1, as Michael Beale looks to increase his attacking options in the wake of Ryan Kent and Alfredo Morelos’ exits.

According to the Scottish Sun [25 June], Rangers are “confident” that they can complete the signing of Abdallah Sima from Brighton “this week”, and Jackson believes Beale could perform a U-turn on his transfer policy to get this exciting deal over the line.

Rangers

Writing in his column for the Daily Record [26 June], he said: “The Rangers boss has previously gone on record as saying he would prefer to avoid tapping into the temporary transfer market as he pieces together a major summer rebuild.

“But, while that remains the Englishman’s stance, Beale is prepared to make an exception to the rule where the 22-year-old Senegalese international is concerned.

“Beale is leading the chase to offer Sima that platform at Ibrox and hopes to get a deal over the line before the start of pre-season next month.”

Exciting new addition

With Beale desperately on the prowl to boost his attacking weaponry ahead of the 23/24 campaign, he may very be willing to go back on his usual policy as this potential Sima deal may be too good to miss out on.

Sima is a player blessed with excellent pace, trickery and possesses the capabilities to play in various positions across the attacking line, including the striker position – just like an Ibrox favourite in Fashion Sakala.

Rangers

With Rangers struggling to bring in top striker target Cyriel Dessers from Serie A, Sima is a deal the Light Blues must explore this summer to ensure they are well-stocked to challenge even if the worst should happen on their top targets.

Sima’s career was somewhat derailed after his move to the Seagulls when a loan with Stoke was cut short by injury, but five league goals and two assists in 34 Ligue 1 appearances last term appear to have got him back on track.

If he can replicate that amazing 2020/21 campaign where he hit an astonishing 20 goals and registered eight assists in all competitions during his loan spell at Slavia Prague then the Gers are well on course to complete an exciting acquisition.
