Rangers to press reset button as lawyers believe favourable Cinch outcome likely – Keith Jackson

Rangers and their lawyers firmly believe that they are on the right side of their mortifying legal feud with the SPFL over title sponsors Cinch, according to Keith Jackson.

The club have been engaged in a standoff with Cinch, as they believed they had no obligation to promote the used car dealers due to a conflict of interest with ex-chairman Douglas Park’s own company Park’s Motor Group.

Writing in his latest column for the Daily Record, Jackson shared that new chairman John Bennett and CEO James Bisgrove are set to press the Rangers reset button after years of mismanagement at the top of the Glasgow club.

He wrote: “Just last week, for example, Bennett and his chief executive James Bisgrove sat down with SFA counterparts Ian Maxwell and Mike Mulraney to press reset and wipe clean all the festering bad blood spilled by Park and Dave King, both of whom seemed determined to start a fight in an empty Blue Room during their time at the helm.

“Who knows, they might even finally draw a line under their wholly unedifying, utterly mortifying legal feud with the SPFL over title sponsors Cinch now that Park has been put back in his box?

“Rangers and their lawyers firmly believe they are on the right side of this particular argument and, for once, that may well be the case.

“But, even so, the sooner this costly distraction is resolved and put to bed, the better it will be for all parties.”

Promising signs

The early signs since the overhaul of personnel at the top of Rangers have been extremely promising, and this hopefully bodes well for seasons to come.

The Gers have been languishing well behind their Old Firm rivals for far too long now, and the departure of Douglas Park and Ross Wilson, in particular, was desperately needed to help freshen up the club for a new assault on the Scottish Premiership title.

Already in the early stages of the transfer window, the Gers have snapped up a host of new faces, including former England international Jack Butland, Kieran Dowell and Chelsea’s Dujon Sterling.

Even off the pitch, both Bennett and Bisgrove look determined to settle issues and restore calm at Ibrox.

Hopefully, this reinvigorated approach at Rangers can help them topple Brendan Rodgers’ Celtic side on the pitch next season, with the former Leicester City boss under a whole heap of pressure after taking the reins from treble-winner Ange Postecoglou.

In other Rangers news, one exit-linked first-team ace has revealed his plans for the transfer window after crying on his way into the club.
