Chris Jack reacts as Rangers in advanced talks with Brighton striker Abdallah Sima

Chris Jack has shared his reaction as Rangers are reportedly looking to seal the deal for Brighton striker Abdallah Sima this summer.

The Scotland Herald journalist believes that he can give the Ibrox faithful a reason to shout about during games.

Football Scotland have reported on 26 June that Gers are in advanced talks to sign the 22-year-old on loan this summer.

Rangers

Jack wrote on 26 June, “The Senegalese international has mainly operated from the right in recent terms. He can, though, play across the front three and his presence would add to the pace and power that Beale has recruited into his squad so far this summer as Rangers are rebuilt and reshaped.

“Sima is gifted but still raw. He was signed as a project player by Potter and his successor, Roberto De Zerbi feels another campaign away from the Amex Stadium would be advantageous. It is Rangers that now stand to benefit as well as Sima himself.

“It is a move, then, that stacks up for all concerned. Plenty has been said and written about his career trajectory but a move to Ibrox will allow his game to do the talking at a time when the Ibrox crowd need something to shout about.”

Worth it

Graham Potter was the one who brought him to the Amex Stadium and Roberto De Zerbi believes that another year away from the club could do his development some wonders.

Brighton are usually spot on with their recruitment so Sima’s definitely got something about him and a season of regular first-team football would certainly be beneficial.

It remains to be seen if Gers are prioritising signing him or are keeping as a backup for Cyriel Dessers who’s been linked earlier than the Senegalese.

Rangers

It’s evident that Michael Beale wants a number nine to effortlessly replace Alfredo Morelos and became a potent threat in front of goal.

Antonio Colak did that towards the start of last season and it remains to be seen what the plans are for him in 2023/24.

A loan move has minimal risk so it’s good to see Gers taking their chances on a Premier League-level player and hopefully, it pays out for them.

In other Rangers news, the club are now close to sealing another major signing after the announcement of Sam Lammers in their biggest acquisition of the summer window.
