Rangers set to sign Brighton attacker Abdallah Sima on season-long loan

Rangers are set to sign Brighton forward Abdallah Sima on a season-long loan early this week, according to a fresh report by the Daily Mail (24 June).

Michael Beale is keen to add forward options to his squad after losing Ryan Kent and Alfredo Morelos, with a deal for Sam Lammers already completed in this transfer window.

But Sima has been made available by Roberto Di Zerbi and Beale is confident he can help the winger to rediscover the form that earned him a £7m move to the Premier League in the first place.

Rangers

“Rangers are close to signing Brighton forward Abdallah Sima on a season-long loan deal,” they wrote.

“A Senegalese international, Sima came to the attention of Ibrox boss Michael Beale during Rangers’ Europa League tussle with Slavia Prague in 2021.

“The 22-year-old has again been made available by Brighton boss Roberto De Zerbi and Rangers are front-runners to take him on, with Beale confident Sima can recover his best form in Glasgow.”

They also claim a deal “could be tied up as early as this week”.

Gamble

Sima clearly made a lasting impression as a youngster when he came up against Rangers a few years ago if Beale is going off those performances alone to make this deal happen.

He struggled in an initial loan deal with Stoke City and then last season was part of a squad in France that suffered relegation.

Rangers

Sima prefers to play in a wide position so would be more of a replacement for Kent than Morelos, but his electric pace and ability one against one makes him exciting for the fans.

That first season with Slavia Prague saw him net 16 goals in 33 games, but he has only managed five goals since then and will need a good kickstart to get back up and running.

Beale wants reinforcements and he is willing to do whatever he can to get them, including taking a gamble on a young talent seemingly.

In other Rangers news, 11 players could potentially leave Ibrox this summer.
