Rangers eye transfer move for Feyenoord striker Danilo if Cyriel Dessers bid fails
Rangers want to sign Feyenoord striker Danilo if they are unable to complete a deal for Cyriel Dessers, according to Mail Plus (24 June).
The Ibrox club have lost Alfredo Morelos after he was released at the end of his contract, while the futures of Antonio Colak and Kemar Roofe are up in the air under Michael Beale.
The club have already signed Sam Lammers to compete up front, but Beale wants at least one other striker and with a move for Dessers stalling due to Cremonese’s asking price Rangers have drawn up a potential list of alternatives.

“Sima and Dessers are the preferred options but there is also a back-up list of alternative options including Benie Traore and Danilo,” they wrote.
“Feyenoord’s Danilo, meanwhile, operates as a striker and the Brazilian scored ten Eredivise goals following a transfer from Ajax last summer.”
Danilo managed 14 goals in all competitions last season as Feyenoord lifted the title, while journalist Alan Nixon reports the club have already had a £2.8m bid for Benie Traore rejected.
Planning
Rangers are clearly planning ahead for this transfer window and have got a long list of targets drawn up for all the possible circumstances.
Beale was very clear when he arrived that he wanted to see big changes with his squad ahead of the 2023/24 season, and that seems to be something he is getting.

He has his prime targets and the club are working towards securing them, but they’re not willing to stand still and wait and if a deal becomes hard to do then they move on quickly.
That seems to be the case here again, and Danilo would arguably be a more popular signing after finding the net regularly in recent seasons and helping his team win the title.
Beale has seen something in his prime targets that he likes and fans are trusting him to get things right as it stands, but Danilo isn’t a bad back-up option either.
