Rangers defender John Souttar at risk of further setbacks amid June development – Injury Expert
We’re delighted to welcome injury expert Dr Rajpal Brar as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the injury situation at Rangers...
Rangers defender John Souttar is at risk of facing another injury lay-off if not monitored correctly, claims Dr Rajpal Brar.
The injury expert read a report in the Daily Record on 10 June that claimed he was a major doubt for the Scotland v Norway Euro 2024 clash.
The centre-back did end up missing the game as he did not recover in time and there are chances of him falling back into the same fitness cycle.

Discussing his situation exclusively with Ibrox News, Brar, a doctor in physical therapy and a sports scientist, said, “Knock is a vague term which typically refers to some contact so the seriousness of it depends on how significant that knock is, the specific body region, etc.
“If it’s say a contusion, essentially a bruise, those can be quite painful and limiting especially when on the foot/ankle, calves, quads, etc.
“He’s also a player who missed a large chunk of the season so may not want to risk him again as it can lead to further setbacks.”
Souttar did manage to play some minutes off the bench in the following game against Georgia, but precautions need to be taken over his fitness.

Currently, the Rangers players are away on vacation but will be returning for pre-season training in a few weeks.
Throughout the 2022/23 season, the 26-year-old managed to make just eight league starts after making his debut in July.
In the 2-1 win at Livingston, he picked up an ankle injury that kept him out right until March which saw him missing over 40 games in all competitions for club and country.
In other Rangers news, the club have finally received a breakthrough to sign a new striker as he’s decided not to sign a contract extension.
