Journalist mocks Rangers as official announcement made in last 24 hours
Guardian journalist Ewan Murray has mocked Rangers and Zeb Jacobs after what he said over the last 24 hours.
The club made an official announcement on 22 June that they have promoted the Head of Academy and made him the new Academy Director.
He went on to state that he plans to make the club’s academy the world-leader in producing players, which showcased his ambition.
Murray decided to have a go on Twitter as he wrote, “Good to see people at Rangers are learning to tone down the hubris.”
A little ambition kills nobody
One cannot fault Jacobs for being ambitious and whatever he said is something any appointee at any club would like to say.
Whether or not he’s worth his grain of salt will be revealed in the coming months and years but he’s at least got to arrive and have a bullish plan.
Lowering expectations is often perceived as a lack of confidence and Rangers would not want to hire someone like that.

Murray appears to be taking a dig at the club to rattle the fans but apart from that there’s nothing wrong with what Jacobs said.
Rangers have a famed academy system that has produced a number of talented players in the past so hopefully, they have got it spot on with this appointment.
Jacobs has been working with the academy since 2021 and he knows the system better than most so it did make sense to promote from within.
In other Rangers news, the club are now close to sealing another major signing after the announcement of Sam Lammers in their biggest acquisition of the summer window.
