Rangers transfer news as Tom Davies move wanted after Everton update

Rangers are interested in a move to sign departing Everton midfielder Tom Davies this summer, according to talkSPORT.

Everton announced on 22 June that the Finch Farm academy product is now set to call time on his 11-year Everton career, going on to make 179 appearances after the Toffees wanted to keep him at Goodison Park.

The Light Blues have been linked with the Finch Farm academy product before with the Daily Record [15 January] reporting that Michael Beale’s men were weighing up a move for the midfielder in the January window, but a deal never materialised.

And with his future away from Everton now set, it looks as if Rangers will look to return to the table for his signature this summer, as talkSPORT reports [22 June].

Decent shout

Rangers going back in for Davies certainly seems a decent shout given Beale is desperate to raise the technical ceiling of his squad for next season, and the departing Everton player can provide that in abundance.

The Gers are certainly not letting up this summer, having completed deals for Sam Lammers, Jack Butland, Dujon Sterling, and Kieran Dowell and are still working on deals to sign Jose Cifuentes and Cyriel Dessers.

Rangers

Should Rangers sign Davies and Cifuentes, Beale could very well have an incredibly stocked midfield for next season with veteran players Ryan Jack and John Lundstram remaining a key part of Beale’s setup.

However, the Gers will be fighting on numerous fronts next season which means Beale will need a plethora of options at his disposal in order to fully challenge Celtic and go on to topple them.

If all else fails in Rangers’ quest to secure their top targets in midfield, then Davies could well represent a perfect opportunity but the club have to move fast with reports emerging that the now former Everton man has offers elsewhere in Europe.

In other Rangers news, transfer terms for a high-profile Ibrox move have been scrapped but the player could yet still arrive at the club this summer.
