Rangers transfer news: Four more signings expected with Brendan Rodgers to spend at Celtic – Kenny Miller

Kenny Miller expects both Rangers and Celtic to sign four players over the summer after Brendan Rodgers’ return to Glasgow presented a “big challenge” to the Light Blues.

The former Hoops boss has completed a surprising return after being sacked by Leicester City on 4 April, replacing now-Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou.

But Miller, who has turned out for both sides of the Old Firm rivalry, believes the man in charge at Ibrox has developments on track and after bringing four new men in already has been tipped to double that number during the window.

Rangers

The BBC pundit said of the Rodgers news, as per the Daily Record: “It certainly presents another big challenge to Rangers. Brendan has nearly 700 games under his belt while Michael is starting out his managerial career.

“You look at the impact he made at QPR and now there has been progression at Rangers. The signs are he’s got them going in the right direction in terms of the signings, the performance and results. The games against Celtic were down to fine margins.

“I’d expect three or four more to come in as well. There’s no doubt Brendan will be facing different animal this time. But he will want to make subtle changes as well.

“There’s talk about him having some money to spend and I can see him making maybe three or four big additions.”

Busy

Whether Rodgers’ return sees the Northern Irishman make big additions or not Beale is going to need more in his squad by the end of the window.

The four early confirmed deals have to go down as a strong start but he is still currently set to be one down from the squad he had last season when the five free transfer departures are taken into consideration.

The goalkeeper question has been answered with Jack Butland and he has added depth in midfield and defence with Kieran Dowell and Dujon Sterling.

But Sam Lammers is only part of the plan up front and further options are likely needed on the wings and at centre back.

The encouraging end to the season, albeit when the pressure was off, coupled with the fast start to the offseason has raised hopes that Beale is building something at Ibrox.

That could change quickly over the summer if the remaining targets he is after all get bogged down for days on end and Rodgers gets his feet under the table.

But Rangers ultimately can’t worry about what Celtic are up to and must concentrate on completing their own business in good time.

They have kicked off the window well and Miller is confident that more will follow in the coming weeks.

In other Rangers news, the club are set to receive money for nothing after an unexpected development in the market.
