Rangers transfer news: Charlie Cresswell update emerges after tabled bid report
Charlie Cresswell is not a Rangers transfer target as Michael Beale does not have him on his radar this summer, Rangers Review reports.
The Gers boss is thought to be after a new centre-back having been credited with leading the pursuit of Nottingham Forest’s Jonathan Panzo [Rangers Review, 13 June] and with an interest in Arsenal’s Auston Trusty [Daily Mail, 8 May].
Football League World reported on Monday (19 June) that Beale had been unsuccessful with an undisclosed offer for Leeds United youngster Cresswell, in what was termed an “initial” bid.

But Rangers Review have now “comprehensively ruled out” the 20-year-old as a Beale target this summer.
False alarm
The up-and-coming Elland Road youngster would have made some sense as an Ibrox transfer target after he fought through adversity in his first sustained senior campaign to prove a success on loan at Millwall.
Gary Rowett was interested in keeping the centre-back at The Den were it not for his parent club being relegated to the same division.
The Lions boss predicted that Cresswell will become a “top-class centre-half” [South London Press, 26 May], and with questions at Ibrox throughout the season for the spot alongside Connor Goldson Rangers would love one of those.

John Souttar’s late-season performances were encouraging but whether he is available enough after sustained injury issues is yet to be proven.
Ben Davies was solid if unspectacular, while Leon King still needs to develop further, so the manager would surely like a new option in his squad.
However, it seems pretty unequivocal that Cresswell is not going to be the man if one does arrive.
In other Rangers news, the Light Blues are in line to get an unexpected cash boost in the transfer market.
