Rangers ready to wrap up Jose Cifuentes transfer after international break with Ecuador

Rangers chiefs are hoping to apply the finishing touches on a deal to sign Jose Cifuentes once he rounds off his international commitments with Ecuador, according to the Daily Record.

Cifuentes has long been a target for Beale and is under contract at Los Angeles FC until December and Rangers are expected to agree a pre-contract deal before then agreeing a fee with Los Angeles FC to sign him early, according to Football Scotland [20 June].

The midfielder is currently on international duty with Ecuador, featuring in one of their two games over the international break and Football Scotland revealed on 20 June, that he could be announced as a Rangers player in July.

And that seems to be backed up by a report in the Daily Record [21 June] which report that the Ibrox bosses are confident of sealing his move once he finishes with Ecuador, which should well be in the coming days as their international run ended on Wednesday morning with a 3-1 win over Costa Rica.

He’s coming

It certainly now appears as if Cifuentes will be a Rangers player in the coming days after this latest development.

Michael Beale desperately wants most of his new signings before they begin their summer training camp, and there is now some small optimism that Cifuentes will be walking through the Ibrox doors before long.

The Ecuadorian represents a smart and exciting signing and a brilliant value for money – an addition to a side in desperate need of some cutting-edge play in midfield and Cifuentes certainly provides that in abundance.

Full of energy, dynamism and invention in the middle third, Cifuentes is just the acquisition Beale needs to sure up and strengthen his midfield options, but a player of such skills and his lack of experience at European level means he needs proper preparation if he is to make an instant impact from the off.

Rangers business this summer is certainly taking shape and the Ecuadorian maestro may prove one of the best additions of the lot. So much for the Ibrox faithful to be excited about with this one.

In other Rangers news, transfer terms for a high-profile Ibrox move have been scrapped but the player could yet still arrive at the club this summer.
