Fresh Bundesliga transfer tussle for Rangers, Antonio Colak scouted

Rangers could be set for a fresh Bundesliga transfer tussle after Antonio Colak was linked with a move to Werder Bremen, as reported by Bild.

Just as the long-running saga over Malik Tillman appears to be reaching its conclusion, this new update on the striker is an intriguing development.

Werder are said to have watched the Croatian international, who arrived at Ibrox last year from Greek side PAOK.

With Michael Beale in the process of rebuilding his Rangers squad and particularly in attack, there is more than a possibility of another switch.

The Bundesliga club are said to be looking at potential replacements for Marvin Ducksch who has been linked with a move to Saudi Arabia, as included in the Bild report.

“One man who should be among the extended group of candidates is Antonio Colak, 29, of Glasgow Rangers who scored 13 league goals last season and was scouted by Werder,” it said.

“Colak knows his way around Germany, was born in Ludwigsburg and played for Nuremberg, Ingolstadt and Hoffenheim, among others.”

Attraction

Beale has already brought in Sam Lammers, with at least one more new striker to follow and that will be a headline addition.

Kemar Roofe will be given another chance to apply himself despite his repeated fitness issues and then there is Fashion Sakala who is seen as a wide forward.

At best, Colak looks set to be the third-choice striker heading into the new campaign which is unlikely to satisfy him.

On the other hand, the German-born striker would see the attraction in a move to Werder Bremen to test himself at a high level, as much as it would represent another challenge to establish himself.

Rangers would likely be open to a deal on a player who was purchased for a reported £1.8m [Sky Sports] last summer, either on loan or on a permanent basis.

In his debut season at Ibrox, Colak gave a very decent account of himself but Beale clearly wants a more varied skillset from his strikers.
