Cryriel Dessers £5m Rangers move could still happen despite Italy development

Reports suggesting that Cyriel Dessers has said no to Rangers are wide of the mark, according to reliable Gers source, The 4th Official.

Calcio Mercato reported on 20 June that the Nigerian striker has declined the chance to move to Scotland, with his preference believed to be remaining in Italy.

It’s believed the Gers were close to a £5million transfer, and the T40 still believes that to be the case.

“Having spoken with more than a few people now, let me say that I don’t believe the reporting from Calcio Mercato that Dessers is not interested in coming to Rangers,” they wrote (via Twitter, 20 June).

Plenty of life left

It appears there’s plenty of life left in this developing transfer saga.

The reports from Italy need to be taken with a severe pinch of salt. Dessers could still end up a Rangers player in a move that sees Beale land a long-term target.

After Sam Lammers’ arrival, another more experienced head is required and the Nigerian would certainly provide that. He’s scored goals on the continent and is in the prime of his career at present.

Rangers

Beale, on the whole, will be delighted with his transfer business to date. So far, Jack Butland, Dujon Sterling, Kieran Dowell and Lammers have all penned deals with the club.

Another four or five additions would mark a very successful window for the former QPR boss.

Looking beyond a striker, two attacking midfield additions have to be at the forefront of Beale’s thinking – particularly after Ryan Kent’s departure. With Scott Wright also on the way out, it’s an area that needs attention.
