Rangers ‘fully’ expected to sign four more players before summer window slams shut

Barry Ferguson fully expects another three or four players to arrive at Rangers before the end of the 2023 summer window.

Sam Lammers has joined Dujon Sterling, Kieran Dowell and Jack Butland at Ibrox with Michael Beale’s overhaul well underway.

Ferguson has been pleased with the Gers’ early business but expects one or two “experienced” heads to arrive.

“I look at what he did in January. Raskin, Cantwell, those two have hit the ground running and I am expecting the same from these four,” Ferguson told Go Radio (quoted by The Daily Record, 19 June).

“I like what he is doing and the business getting done early. I fully expect another three or four players. I think he will need that bit of experience to help, you can’t buy experience.”

Ideal

With four players already through the door, another four would mark an extremely profitable window for Beale. He wanted an overhaul and it appears his wishes are going to come true.

Change was required and it’s exactly what we’ve been given. Celtic’s appointment of Brendan Rodgers has made life even more challenging for Beale heading into the new season.

The former Leicester boss wasn’t going to return to Parkhead unless he was given some reassurances in relation to the finances he could have available.

It’s highly likely he will be given the cash to strengthen the Hoops further after Ange Postecoglou’s departure to Tottenham Hotspur.

For Beale, he’s probably looking for a winger, midfielder and another striker before the window slams shut. There’s been talk of Cremonese striker Cyriel Dessers arriving and the 28-year-old would certainly provide an experienced option for the Rangers boss to utilise.

Let’s hope the Gers business shows no signs of letting up in the coming weeks.
