Rangers transfer news as agents sent message over Glen Kamara exit

Finland boss Markku Kanerva has urged Glen Kamara to secure a move to the “highest possible level”, as reported by Finnish outlet MTV.

The Rangers midfielder, widely expected to move on from Ibrox in the coming weeks, secured the opening goal for his country in their 6-0 rout of San Marino in the Euro 2024 qualifier in Helsinki’s Olympic Stadium.

He played the full game as the Finns consolidated their place at the top of the Group H table, level with Kazakhstan on nine points after four games played, but the coach wants more from him and others who have been linked with moves ahead of the new season.

Kanerva provided a clear indication of what he would like to see happen when the 27-year-old’s future is determined.

“For all the players, I hope that these possible transfers would be ones where the development of the player is ensured,” he said.

“From that point of view, it is important that the new team offers a role and club at the highest possible level.

“I don’t know if San Marino is a big indicator of his skills for the agents, but yes, even this match showed his strength. I hope Glen finds good company.”

Inevitable

Unless something very unexpected happens, Kamara will not be a Rangers player by the end of the current transfer window.

That is very much the expectation and the reality of the situation, at present.

After four and a half years at Ibrox, now is the time for the player and club to go their separate ways. The purchase of Kamara from Dundee was excellent business and a tidy profit will be banked compared to the pittance of an initial outlay that brought him to Glasgow.

It is refreshing to see the silky midfielder grab a goal for himself, with a smile on his face, on international duty.

Having recently enjoyed a holiday in the USA, he will have some further downtime ahead of his future being resolved in the coming weeks.

The talented player is more than capable of contributing at a very good level, in a technical-style league such as France or Italy, so hopefully he does go on to feature on a platform more suited to his game as he strives to kick-start his career elsewhere.
