Brendan Rodgers appointment at Celtic makes Rangers job harder for Michael Beale
Brendan Rodgers’ appointment at Celtic has made Michael Beale’s job at Rangers next season all the more harder, according to journalist Chris Jack.
The Gers and Beale were given plenty of encouragement in their quest to topple Celtic next season, when the club announced the departure of Ange Postecoglu who moved to the Premier League to join Tottenham, after his continued dominance with the Hoops.
However, that hope has now been thrown out the window with their Old Firm rivals appointing Rodgers as Postecoglu’s successor [Sky Sports, 19 June] who claimed seven trophies during his first spell in Glasgow, including back-to-back domestic trebles before leaving for Leicester City in 2019.

And according to The Herald journalist Jack, speaking in his newspaper column [20 June, page 3], Rodgers will prove a different proposition for Beale’s Rangers after his previous success during his first spell at Parkhead.

He said: “Rodgers is a different proposition, and is the man many wouldn’t have wanted to see land the job.
“There will still be a belief that Celtic can be surpassed in the Premiership inside the space of one season, but the return of the Northern Irishman removes the elements of surprise that could have played into Beale’s hands.
“It could be argued that Beale’s job has just become more difficult. It has to be said though, that the rewards will be even more satisfying if the Englishman can turn Rangers from challengers into champions.”
Great for SPFL
If Rangers fans thought they’d avoided another banana skin last season when Postecoglu departed Parkhead to seek pastures new, then they’ve certainly got another thing coming with Celtic’s stunning development.
It’s safe to say the Hoops were absolutely thrilling to watch under the Greek’s stewardship playing some spellbinding football along the way to their treble success last season.

However, Rodgers is built in a similar ilk as we know and certainly returns with a point to prove after his latter failure at Leicester City.
Though, Celtic’s latest appointment is sensational for the Scottish Premier League as viewers will be intrigued to see how Rangers and Beale match up to Rodgers who has proven a seasoned mastermind when it comes to dominating the Scottish game.
And Jack is absolutely right, it will be a marvellous achievement if the Light Blues were to take that next step in the coming season and Beale will have to be given a lot of praise if they are to topple the Hoops and Rodgers next season.
A tantalising prospect for every Scottish Premier League fan, but a daunting one for the Rangers faithful. Rodgers has returned to dominate once more, he must be put in his place.
In other Rangers news, a transfer recruit whom the club are thought to be leading the race for has been backed to be a success in Scotland.
