Rangers suffer setback in proposed Scott Wright switch to English Championship
Rangers have suffered a setback in terms of the proposed sale of Scott Wright to Preston North End, according to a report from Lancs Live.
The squad player has failed to make a significant impact at Ibrox despite several impressive cameo roles and flashes of ability and is set to move on from the club this summer.
Wright started in the Europa League final in May 2022 but only made 21 appearances last season in the Scottish Premiership with just one assist to his credit and he only completed a full game on two occasions.

A permanent switch to Lancashire had been heavily tipped with the player said to have visited the club, but the latest report indicated the deal is off.
“Preston North End have moved on from a transfer target they have bid twice for recently who is believed to be Rangers winger Scott Wright,” it said.
“LancsLive understands Wright was a target amid recent speculation. North End were looking to get a deal done quickly with boss Ryan Lowe keen to sign some wingers this summer.
“However, that deal has not worked out for the Deepdale side and they have now moved on to looking for fresh targets in a bid for reinforcements this summer. Wright does not appear to have a future at Ibrox, however, the winger appears to now, not be heading to Deepdale.”

Formality
The 25-year-old has been no more than a bit-part player under Michael Beale so it is of mutual benefit to the club and player that he is moved on.
He isn’t going to feature and will be sold in the coming weeks. That is a formality.
The club should have no problems shifting the attacker. He has improved since his move to Ibrox, even though consistency is an issue for him. He scored in Rangers’ Scottish Cup final victory over Hearts in May 2022, just days after his appearance in the Seville showpiece game.
The most frustrating aspect of Wright’s game is that he would often come off the bench to make a bright impression in a game then the next couple of times that he would start, he would be anonymous.
Addressing that flaw in his game will be crucial as he aims to push on in his career, elsewhere, but it looks like it won’t be at Preston.
